Moondance gives dancers across Australia the opportunity to compete in jazz, tap, hip hop, lyrical/contemporary & variety (musical theatre) dance events, in their annual Dance Challenge.
The Kids entered into the Hip hop troupe section to the song Dynamite by Taio Cruz, with the boys show off their breakdancing moves and the girls do the splits.
Dance teacher Emma Campbell says “Braidwood children have never had the opportunity to compete in a dance competition like this before, and it has all been made possible due to the Braidwood Lions Club.”
The Lions sponsored Braidwood Dance Studio so they could afford costumes for all the kids. “Without this, we would not have been able to compete, so a big, big thank you goes to the Lions Club.”
“We'd also like to thank all the parents, nans and friends who put all the time and effort into sewing to make our costumes perfect” said Emma.
“The kids have been doing extra rehearsals every week and have worked really hard to perfect our routine and I’m so proud of them” said Emma.
Although the kids didn’t get a placing “I cried because I was so proud of them” said Emma. “The competition was pretty fierce and you could tell the other kids danced 24/7.”
“The kids were buzzing when they got off stage and already want to know when we are doing it again, so they loved it.”
Miss Emma says “it is such a blessing to have support from the community so the kids can do what they love to do, and that’s perform. Braidwood Lions club have made all our dreams possible and we are extremely thankful.”
