(report from Mark Roberts)
The Palerang United Men played for the first time in a month at home against Tuggeranong United who were top of the ladder. The Palerang United Men have suffered some injuries in the past few weeks and although we had a full bench it lacked the fitness or experience to match the top team. The boys started well with the game ebbing and flowing however it was evident early that Tuggeranong had some talent in their team that would test Palerang United’s defence if they got some space to work with. Tuggeranong opened the scoring with a neat finish on goal after some sustained pressure and a second was almost instantly conceded shortly after however to Palerang United’s credit the boys hit back with young James Carey scoring from within the goal box. That unfortunately is as close as we got though with keeper Andrew Crisp picking up an injury and having to retire from the game. Final score wasn’t pretty but I can’t fault the effort the boys put in against a pretty good team. Palerang United 1 Tuggeranong United 8.
WOMEN’S
(Report from Mark Roberts)
The Palerang United Women are in dazzling form with some inspirational football being played by dedicated women who are loving playing as a team. Belsouth were no match for our ladies who dominated large chunks of the game with a controlled passing game that is impressive and a pleasure to watch. Brooke Clarke was outstanding in defence as was Tamara Roberts and Hollie Wells. Courtney Doyle is impressing in her roaming midfield role with some delicate footwork bamboozling opponents and her creative passes from deep in midfield feeding our forwards for quality chances on goal. Matilda Corby has the patience and composure at centre midfield which is creating our dominance of possession and Jaye Coble, Emily Malone and Lauren Campbell are terrorising the defence of each opposing team we play with their committed approach to their games. Keely Howard’s anticipation and control on the ball is thwarting attacking chances from our opponents and frustrating them into mistakes. Kaitlyn Harrison and Dale McDonald are causing all manner of problems down the wings covering a lot of ground in attack and defence with some excellent positioning and creative play.
The Belsouth keeper was outstanding stopping a lot more shots on target than she’s had in previous games but 2 goals in each half from Jaye Coble Emily Malone and Matilda Corby and Keely Howard saw the game finish Palerang United 4 Belsouth 0. A top of the table clash next week for the Palerang United Women playing against Belwest. This should be an entertaining game with a lot more hard work involved but I am sure our Women will be up for the challenge. Good Luck Ladies!!
UNDER 15 GIRLS
The Palerang under 15 girls travelled to Canberra on Saturday to take on the bottom placed Belwest Foxes. It was clear from the start Belwest Foxes had turned up to play. The Palerang girls were out played throughout the first half in every area of the field. The Palerang girls effort in the first half could only be described as "complacent". The Belwest Foxes scored mid-way through the first half to take a strong hold on the game. To the Palerang girls credit they scored a late first half goal from our striker, Nina Garcia. We went into the half time break 1 all.
The second half saw some improvement by the girls which resulted in Nina scoring a second goal to take an unconvincing 2-1 lead of the game. The girls held out the strong Belwest team to win 2-1.
This game is a win we will take with both hands, but if we are going to challenge for the competition then there is no room for complacency.
Best on the field again were our defensive line, goal keeper Hannah who saved a great goal in the second half, Jay and Haddie Davies, Kaitlyn Ward and Nina Garcia.
Rita Marshall arrived at the game handing out four leaf clovers, what an asset they proved to be this week.
BOY’S UNDER 14
A close match against Radford College saw a 2-1 loss to our boys in a home game.
The Braidwood Community Bank and Palerang United ‘Goals for Life’ Promotion has seen this week’s tally of goals increase by 8 from 57 to 65. This brings our total raised for the Braidwood Life Centre to $640. Well Done to our Palerang United teams and keep up the scoring for your community.

Local Soccer Reports
The rainy days leading up to this Saturday’s soccer matches may have left a few of us wondering if soccer would be a postponed – but to everyone’s enjoyment it was a brilliant day of hard fought matches in Braidwood.
UNDER 9’S
Shorthorns defeated Beefmasters 2-1. A good fun game with all players having an active role. Bonnie Park and Jai Bunn showed real improvement in their skills. So did Wyatt Marven and Hugh Lyons. Goal scorers were Jayden, Harrison and Adelaide.
UNDER 11’S
Droughtmasters v’s Longhorns 1-1. Very good game by all. A great goal by Johno Coe to make it 1-0 before half time, but great defence by the Droughtmasters to grab a goal back late in the second half to level it 1-1 all.
Herefords defeated Angus 3-0. A great start by both teams with all players showing strong form. An outstanding performance from Layla Crosbie with a hat trick of goals. Christina Culmone showed outstanding performance in keeping the ball out of goal. All the girls on the Hereford’s played with fire burning in their bellies, as did the Angus players.
UNDER 13’S
Holsteins defeated Murray Greys 7-4. A fantastic game of footy. The highlight was Celia in goal for the Murray Greys. The winner was not decided until the final whistle.
Square Meaters defeated Charolais 5-4. Best game so far with precision team work on both sides which made for a brilliant FIFA spectacle.
