Mature pines guard short shots to the right and a tricky bunker beside the green longer ones; any shot out of the bunker must be controlled or you will lob straight across into the dam.  Go long and you are over the back and almost onto the fourth fairway trying to hit back up onto the green that you now can't see. And yes, the dam is still there.

Go even slightly left and you will be in long, rough grass and bring the dam further into play.  Go long and left and all you will hear is ‘sploosh’, unless it's the middle of summer when the dam is all dry mud, but the ball is still well and truly in the hazard.  Sometimes, miraculously, you can play out of the hazard (provided you don't ground your club, of course) but good luck getting the ball to 'stop' on the green anywhere near the flag.

Yet rewards await on this little hole.  Often the NTP (nearest the pin) is settled here or if you are lucky, as I was once, it's the jackpot hole. To 'knock-off' the jackpot your tee shot must land within a metre of the hole and yes it can be done; even as a novice, I swear!  I will long recall my day; it was only my ninth competitive game of golf and my playing partners were so excited for me, while I had no idea what I had done.  Now the ball I used has pride of place on my dressing table and the money was definitely well spent.
