NAIDOC week celebrations are held across Australia in July each year to celebrate the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. On Friday 18 July Braidwood Central School joined the celebrations with a half day filled with activities for students to get involved in, including:

* Cooking with, and tasting, some native foods and ingredients;
* Singing and dancing with Aboriginal Singer Johnny Huckle;
* Finding out about a variety of Aboriginal Artifacts that were on display;
* Painting a number of large and small paintings using traditional techniques;
* Soldering messages onto Message Sticks;
* Looking at websites and watching movies recommended by the Aboriginal Education Consultative Group (AECG).
The day was a great success and much enjoyed by all the staff and students at the school. When talking to students, they found it difficult to pick a favourite activity. A big thank you goes to the AECG, whose involvement made the day possible.
