Exeter are the only side to have beaten the Stags so far this season, and are currently nipping at the Stags heels as both teams vie for top spot in the Highlands Premier League.

The last time both teams met, Exeter won 1-0.

“Exeter beat Marulan 10-0 last weekend. They’re a good side but I think they might have some key outs,” Stags coach David Jones told the Post earlier in the week.

“They have this one guy who is very good and he changes the whole team if they play.”

If the Stags win, they’ll create a seven point buffer between themselves on top spot and Exeter on second spot.

It is likely that victory tomorrow will see the Stags snag the minor premiership before the final series.

However the Stags are suffering from injury.

Key outs saw the Stags side scrape only 11 players for the STFA Cup final on the weekend. Of those injured is skipper Aaron Swanson.

The captain reinjured his right hamstring in the sides 1- 1 draw against Hill Top on Saturday.

It’s an injury that had been causing the skipper problems throughout the season.

He looks likely to miss up to five to six weeks.

“What can you do?”

Swanson told the Post on Tuesday.

“Hopefully it isn’t as bad as what I think it may be. I’ll be doing all I can to help out coaching.”

Stags face Exeter at Cookbundoon tomorrow at 3pm.
