How beautiful our golf course is looking at the moment. It is in tip top condition thanks to our wonderful Thursday workers & Les Mundy who is now working 2 days a week. We had 8 workers turn up this week on both Thursday & Friday, what an excellent bunch of volunteers!
However, there is always something that needs doing, so if you would like to join the working bee on Thursdays’ you would be most welcome at 10.30.
Let’s share the work load.
Big thanks must also go to Bernie Waddell for tree removal on the 8th fairway & Greg Hart for his tractor to help with removal.
It is good to see Michael Tillman-Ryan back on the course after knee surgery.
The mixed foursomes are coming up soon, so it is time to organise partners. We also need volunteers to help with the Ladies Open Day on 21st September, workers & donations for the trading table are needed please.
There will be a committee meeting on Saturday 16th August at 10.30am. Everyone is welcome.

GOLF MATTERS
The volunteers have been more than a little busy lately and, with the assistance of some heavy duty equipment, including a tractor, they have removed one half of a large tree on the eighth. I am sure that this will be appreciated by many players but I must admit the hole has now lost its signature status and warped aesthetic appeal.
Mark, the bare elbow Newman won the August monthly medal and was runner up to Shamrock in the Dapto Lawless trophy last Saturday. Massey was runner up to Mark and the balls went to Black Caviar, Terry Hughes and Les Hart. Rod Coady was the NTP and picked up the jackpot of over $200 with a shot to within a metre!
S Morgan the junior, Keith Ferguson and Terry Hughes won the balls in Dapto’s trophy. Many thanks to Ross for his support and to Deb Ferguson for her sponsorship of the ladies competition on 2 August. This event was won by the irrepressible Shirley Shoemark from Judy Scott. Di Freeman won the putting.
The Jackie Clark trophy, last Saturday was won by Donna Kuhn from Robyn Sim on a countback from Judy Bevege. This Saturday the ladies play a par event sponsored by Penny Hardy; a player we would all like to see soon. The men will play a 2BBB and this ought to provide an opportunity to complete the first round of the doubles knockout.
This Sunday a small group will attend the Bungendore markets in an attempt to drum up some support for the golf club. The marketing working group is now ready to launch some more publicity strategies to increase club membership. Nevertheless the best strategy is word of mouth so if you know of any lapsed golfers have a word or two in their ear about the need to increase our player numbers.
Anders Nielsen did not play a lot of golf recently but allegedly he was a bit of a deft hand at the game in years past. He will be missed around town. Rest in Peace good man.
