Douglas Gotterba, who worked for the Pulp Fiction star's aircraft company in the 1980s, spoke out earlier this year about a relationship with Travolta, something the actor's lawyers denied before beginning legal proceedings alleging Gotterba breached a confidentially clause.

Speaking to The Daily Beast, Travolta fielded questions about his rumoured homosexuality and the lawsuit.

"This is every celebrity's Achilles heel. It's just about people wanting money. That's all. It happens on many levels," he said.

"Also, I don't care that much about it. Other people may attack it back more than I do, but I let all the media stuff go a long time ago because I can't control it. I think that's why it persists, to some degree."

Gotterba is the latest in a list of men to have come forward claiming they have been intimate with the Saturday Night Fever star.

The 60-year-old said he isn't worried by the speculation but demanded privacy and respect for his family.

"Sex stuff is always going to be interesting to somebody, but you stay away from family. You really should," he said.

He has been married to fellow actor Kelly Preston for more than 20 years. The couple lost their eldest son, 16-year-old Jett, when he died of a seizure while on a family holiday in 2009. Preston gave birth to their third child, Benjamin, in 2010.
