Restaurateur and bar tsar Grant Collins has confirmed Kellett Street as the location for his new venture, The Powder Keg Restaurant and Bar, which opens mid-November. It will slide into the site once occupied by TV chef Manu Feildel's Apertif eatery, on the leafy side-street just off the main drag of King Cross.

Former Aria and Jonah's chef Elijah Holland will front the kitchen, with the wine list in the hands of Buzo alumni James Young. There's a heavy gin slant to the project, Collins confirming vintage gin from the 1940 and '50s will be on the list. Chin Chin Night Owls, a late-night menu, will run until 1.30am, with High Tea served on Sundays for the less nocturnally inclined.
"Next year we will be holding a TPK 'Ginstitute', a class for up to 25 people to learn the history of gin, classic gin cocktails and twists as well as being able to create their very own gin," Collins says.
