What of the risk of lead from the smelter and from dust?
Ask the families at Mt Isa and Lithgow about the horror of lead pollution their children's health and brain development.
Lead pollution is almost impossible to remove. Children breath it in, or swallow it from dust on their fingers.
This is a risk for everyone in this region. Lead in smoke and dust can travel tens of kilometers.
We only need one accident to cause disaster. Yet Dargues had five environmental breaches in the six months it operated at Major's Creek.
Can we trust a company that even last month stated that cyanide processing at Major's Creek was not being considered, nor would ever be considered?
Can we risk our health and our children's on vague promises?
Say 'no' to cyanide, and 'no' to smelting ore containing lead.
