It is past time for politeness.
Council, please know that the trial of the stupid concrete structures has proven them to create a killing zone.
They force pedestrians into confrontation with two streams of traffic.
The traffic islands in Queanbeyan, for instance, allow people to cross one stream, then turn their attention to the other direction for the second stage of crossing.
If anyone doubts the danger please come and sit behind my desk around 4pm. I see confused drivers and confused pedestrians at extreme risk.
To consider spending another $50,000 on this idiot failed structure is beyond belief. Recognise that the community hates it, tear it out and replace with Zebra stripes and a simple central security zone.
Meantime put in extra signs facing the traffic so everyone understands who gives way to whom.
Council, do not do these things immediately and be culpable in the death of a school child.
