Geoff Baker objects to Forbes Gordon publishing his thoughts, which he calls ‘rants,’ on the plight of asylum seekers, which he calls ‘transferees.’ He is wrong on both counts. Whether or not one agrees with Forbes Gordon he certainly does not rant – he does not use loud, violent, exaggerated and bombastic language - but always expresses his opinions in thoughtful, polite language, even as he is appalled by the actions of the Australian Government towards those it is holding in Nauru and PNG.

Conversely Mr Baker makes several unsubstantiated claims about the status of the people in question and the conditions under which they are being held, hiding behind such phrases as ‘I am led to believe,’ and uses exaggerated and bombastic language to express them. I know whose opinions I prefer to read.
