The Sutton and District Community Association have received $5,000 through the NSW Government’s Community Building Partnership grant scheme and $55,802 for the Araluen Recreation Reserve Trust through the Public Reserves Management Fund Program.

Mr Barilaro the NSW Government has committed more than $350,675 to support the development, maintenance and improvement of public reserves across the Monaro under the Public Reserves Management Fund Program.

“Public reserves are wonderful assets that are highly valued by local communities and are vital to the success of local sports, social clubs, business and tourism,” Mr Barilaro said.

“Showgrounds, caravan parks and local parks and reserves are the social and economic focal point of many of our local communities, and this funding will allow community trust managers to carry out improvements that will bring greater social and economic benefits to their local community.

“I am very pleased to announce that as part of this funding boost, the Araluen Recreation Reserve Trust will receive:

$49,018 for the replacement of fencing and resurfacing of the community tennis court and;

$6,784 for Installation of water tanks and pumps.

Mr Barilaro said the Sutton and District Community Association will use a $5,000 grant under the NSW Government’s Community Building Partnership scheme to build a new hit up wall.  “Tennis has been a great source of entertainment in rural communities for many years and Sutton is no exception,” said Mr Barilaro.“Tennis facilities such as those in Sutton are integral to small communities as they assist in their social fabric.

“I congratulate the Sutton and District Community Association for the work they do to encourage healthy lifestyles.

“The Community Building partnership scheme and the Public Reserves Management Fund are two examples of the NSW Government’s commitment to the cultural, sporting, environmental, economic and recreational life of communities across NSW.”
