The Braidwood Show on 7 March is delighted to feature Charlie, and his understudy, Harley, the Brahman bullocks from Falls Creek, NSW. Charlie, who is 9 years old, is a legend at his local shows around the South Coast. The loveable, gentle giant thinks he’s a horse, and is looking forward to meeting the locals – especially children - at Braidwood Show this year. Charlie will be saddled and ridden through the crowds throughout show day, and he can’t wait to be petted by children. His owners, Garry and Robyn Nelson, say Charlie has that real “WOW” factor as he walks through the crowds. Harley is only a “baby” at three and a half years of age, but hopes to be as famous as his mentor, Charlie, one day.

Robyn Nelson believes Charlie is Garry’s mid-life crisis. “Some guys buy a Harley Davidson – Garry’s got Charlie”. Robyn also says that when Charlie sees a group of children while moving around the show, he slowly drifts towards them. It’s a fantastic opportunity for locals to get up close and personal to a breed of cattle rarely seen around their region.
Charlie is also the subject of the “Guess The Weight” competition this year. And unlike past years where you had to go find the beast to assess its weight and enter the competition, this one will find you.
