After missing out on the rodeo in 2014 due to wet weather we are bouncing back with as much rodeo action as we can muster! And by the looks of it we’re creating a mighty impressive stampede of entertainment that people will be talking about until the next year (and with any luck it’s not going to rain on our parade beforehand).
In the arena we will have cowboys and cowgirls testing their skills against beast, one another and the clock. Again, Braidwood will host the Southern Zone Finals so the cream of the competitive crop will be competing in the Rough Stock and Timed Events.
We’ve got so much on including Bull Riding, Saddle Bronc Riding, Bare Back Riding. We’ve got Barrel Racing, Steer Wrestling, Team Roping. We’ve got something for the little people, something for the local people and something for the faint and not so faint hearted. Food stalls, Trade Stalls, Show Rides, Bar.You name it, we’re going to try and have it (within reason of course).
For the locals who want to show the town a completely unprofessional but wholeheartedly entertaining rodeo show we will be holding the ever popular under 8s poddy ride, local steer ride and local barrel race. We will also introduce a poly buckjump (stock saddle bronc ride). Entries for these events will be taken before 10 am at the office on the day of the rodeo. Entries for all other events are taken through Central Entry of the ABCRA. See their website www.abcra.com.au or give them a call on 02 6766 5863.
For the people who want to do their thrill seeking from the safety of the grandstands entry is $15 for adults, $5 concession or children and $30 for a family, the same great value it’s been now for 5 years! Rodeo competition starts from 9am, local events start from 11am and the Main Event begins at midday and runs until about 5pm.
But it doesn’t stop there. The Southern Zone Finals Presentation Dinner & Dance will be firing up in the pavilion as the dust settles in the arena. Dinner from 6pm $20 per head (tickets available from the Braidwood Hotel until Wednesday 25/3 or from the bar at the showground on the day), dinner tickets are limited! Presentation from 7pm. The Lumpy Underdaks will see what moves everyone has left for the dancefloor from 8pm.
