In a statement released to TMZ, the Mad Men actor's representatives confirmed that he had entered and completed a rehabilitation program for alcohol addiction.

"With the support of his longtime partner Jennifer Westfeldt, Jon Hamm recently completed treatment for his struggle with alcohol addiction," the statement read.

"They have asked for privacy and sensitivity going forward."

TMZ reports that Hamm, 44, checked himself into Silver Hill Hospital in New Canaan, Connecticut at the end of February. He recently completed his 30-day stay at the facility.

Since leaving the facility it has been business as usual for the actor, who is currently doing press for the premiere of the second-half of Mad Men's seventh and final season, which will screen on US network AMC on April 5.

The actor was photographed leaving LAX airport in Los Angeles on Tuesday after doing press and attending a special screening of the season's premiere in New York.

Hamm and actress and screenwriter Jennifer Westfeldt have been in a relationship since 1997.

The couple have homes in New York and Los Angeles.

Although his Mad Men character Don Draper is a heavy smoker, Hamm has said he gave up cigarettes 20 years ago.

"I quit smoking when I was 24," Hamm told People in 2007.

"It's glamorous on film, but it's not glamorous waking up and smelling like an ashtray."

When he is required to smoke during filming, Hamm said he uses herbal cigarettes.

"The taste is a cross between lawn clippings, mint and pot," he told People
