Larkham will wait for the dust to settle from the weekend's club games before he decides who will replace Tevita Kuridrani (AC joint) at outside centre against the Free State Cheetahs at Canberra Stadium on Saturday.

The Brumbies sit on top of the Australian conference and second on the Super Rugby ladder, but are coming off their second loss of the season.

Larkham said they could only afford to lose three or four more games for the rest of 2015 if they wanted to play in their third successive finals campaign.

But they play four of their next five games at home before embarking on their South Africa tour.

Given they've lost just two of their last 20 games at home, the Brumbies are in a good position to cement their spot on the ladder over the next five weeks as they come off the bye.

Especially if they can turn around last weekend's loss to the Waratahs when they meet them at Canberra Stadium on May 1.

The Cheetahs have managed to push the Brumbies at Canberra Stadium recently, having lost by a combined total of just three points in their last two visits.

"We can get into a good routine and certainly build up towards that game against the Waratahs," Larkham said.

"We don't want to get too far ahead of ourselves ... we've still got 10 games to go in the comp and we've lost two now so we've got to make sure we make the most of this home-ground advantage that we're going to have over the next five weeks."

Larkham was still unsure who would replace Kuridrani in the No.13 jersey.

The Wallabies centre is out for up to eight weeks after he had his shoulder slammed into the ground in the loss to the Waratahs.

Larkham said it would depend how players pulled up after the weekend's John I Dent Cup games, with recruits James Dargaville and Nigel Ah Wong two options.

The Brumbies coach will also consider Lausii Taliauli, shifting Fijian flyer  Henry Speight and also bringing in Jesse Mogg.

Dargaville has been used as a utility off the bench, while Ah Wong  was recruited to specifically to play outside centre.

Larkham said a lack of match fitness could count against Ah Wong, who is returning from a broken arm  during an impressive pre-season.

"We've still got a number of options there. We don't want to tinker with the backline too much," he said.

"[Ah Wong] has come down as a backrower, but we've converted him specifically to a 13 so I'm interested to see how he pulls up from that game knowing he's been out for a long time.

"We've got James Dargaville, who's been doing a fantastic job off the bench for us and fits into the team really well.

"We've got a number of options at the moment and know it's going to be a long-term prospect ... so we need to make sure."

While the Brumbies were well beaten by the Waratahs 28-13, Larkham didn't think they were exposed by the reigning champions.

He was impressed with his team's physicality and felt if a few decisions had gone their way it could have been a different result.
