Gold Logie winner Carrie Bickmore had Education Minister Christopher Pyne's face on her mind during childbirth.
Mr Pyne co-hosted Monday's edition of The Project, with Bickmore making a special appearance after her Logie victory on Sunday. That gave Bickmore the opportunity to confess direct to Mr Pyne's rather bewildered face.
"I thought of you as my baby was crowning," she said.
"You're not the first person to tell me that", replied a clearly-bemused Education Minister.
Bickmore, it transpired, had watched a video of Mr Pyne's memorable Sky News interview in which the minister replies to questions on education policy that he "was a fixer" and insisted that he'd "fixed it" (a Star Wars parody would later bring the clip to much greater popularity).
"That night, as I was going into labour, I was watching your fabulous 'I'm a fixer', and I was watching it over and over," Bickmore continued.
"And I wanted to keep it a surprise but it just filled me with such joy.
"And then I thought to myself I must remember that when I'm in intense pain if I need a laugh, to think of Christoper Pyne's 'I'm a fixer'. And then as it was happening, I was thinking 'I'm a fixer'".
The program's hosts were wearing beanies in support of Bickmore's public campaign to raise funds for brain cancer research, launched on Sunday after she won the Gold Logie. Bickmore, who is on maternity leave, lost her husband in 2010 to the disease.
Mr Pyne selected a cheery red, yellow and blue striped beanie emblazoned with the name of his footy club, the Adelaide Crows.
That prompted radio host Steve Price, usually a regular co-host to quip during a live cross, "thanks for stealing my chair, you look stupid in that beanie".
Mr Pyne's name is often thrown up in leadership speculation, but the education minister said he had no aspirations to be Prime Minister.
"Never; in fact I'm very happy in the role that I've got," he said.
If he did not want the top job, who did he want in the role, host Waleed Aly asked.
"Pete Helliar," replied Pyne, quick as a whip.
