Local horticulturalist Dennis Dempsey has cleaned up the prizes at the annual spring daffodil fair.

Winning the Grand Champion Daffodil, Dennis says “the daffodils that won date back to early last century. We rescued them from Mum’s garden at Emu Flat. There is just so much depth of colour in them.”
The brought a smile to Dennis’s face after a period of ill health, and then he went on to win the First Prize Raffle of a $500 Open Order at Braidwood Rural & Building Supplies on top of the $50 Open Order at Muttons for winning the Grand Champion and three other firsts and a second for his camelias.
The flower section judged by champion florist Marilyn Carle. Among the numerous first prizes placegetters were Di Izzard, Jenny Bunn, Maureen Stachow, Pat Stephen, Gilly Burke,
Tess Gurling, Ted Younger, Durham Hall, Katie Lyons, Helen Small, Braidwood Preschool, Jarrah Parsons and Scarlet Bunn.
The much coveted award for Best Sponge Cake was won by Katie Lyons.
The Wood Raffle was won by Gail White, the White Elephant Raffle by Jason Pont and the the Araluen Raffle prizes went to E Wilson, Libby Raynolds, Amanda Blandon and Karrie Reeves.
The Garlic Guessing competition will continue until the November market stall.
The Anglican Parish would like to thank all the the volunteers who helped set up, pull down and donated items for sale, and worked all day at the fair.
The children were delighted with the wonderful face painting by Frances - thank you Frances.
Thanks to Shelly Scott for entertaining the children with the colourful maypole dancing and to Bill Waterhouse for supplying the dulcet tones on the day.
