Police allege 47-year-old Abdel Dwikat shot his 23-year-old nephew, Saif Jouda, multiple times in the face at a home in Horsley Park in April, after he answered a late-night knock at the door.

Early Friday morning, police arrested the man at Byron Street in Yennora after an investigation from Strike Force Interface, comprised of police from Fairfield Local Police and the State Crime Command's Homicide Squad.

He was taken to Fairfield Police Station where he was charged with murder.

Dwikat is due to appear in Fairfield Local Court on Friday where he is expected to make a bail application.

Fairfax Media reported in April that Mr Jouda arrived in Sydney in January to be with his fiancee, whom he'd met in Palestine and proposed to three years ago.

In September, police appealed for more information about the shooting, releasing CCTV footage showing a white coloured Isuzu Tautliner which they believe the alleged shooter parked nearby, before walking to the home on foot and killing Mr Jouda.

Speaking at the time that footage was released, Detective Inspector Stuart Cadden said the shooting was particularly brutal.

"We know that the shooting was a rather calculated and brutal shooting," he said.

"We believe it was done by a person who obviously had a very significant level of hatred towards the man."
