The matter has resurfaced. Council now has been asked by the proposers to re-consider their application. Council has received additional reports on the situation. These can be viewed at Council Offices up to 30th October 2015.
May I urge all local ratepayers who are interested in the future of tourism as a vital business component of the district to step into the Shire office and have a look. The application number is DA 2014 254
I still firmly believe that this kind of development is not in the best interests of the district. Modern tourism is a nasty competitive business and many of us are directly or indirectly caught up in it. Applications of this kind, if granted, are really a nibbling erosion of our business capital.
A five-lot subdivision may not sound very much, but approval would set an unfortunate precedent. As they say in Scotland, “Mony a mickle maks a muckle.”
