Friday night we witnessed the final night of the 2015 Braidwood Community Banks sponsored Bare-Foot Bowls Competition in a very pleasant evening weather wise and a great social evening enjoyed by all those people who participated. On the down side two of the teams that had in the previous three weeks competed did not front which necessitated four teams replaying teams they had already met, but everybody still had an hour and half’s fun.

The team by the name of the Bunnies did not get mixamatosis and were able to come up with a win in the fourth week in a row when they defeated 10 to 6 the Bare-Foot Blazers who were with the Bunnies in a level position before the last night’s game giving the Bunnies an overall score of 8 + 24. In second place was the Braidwood Rural Team with an overall score of 6 + 24.
In third place were the Bare-Foot Blazers with a score of 6 + 19 with 4th place taken by the Young Guns (led by Leroy Campbell-Davies). It is an interesting bit of trivia is Braidwood Rural has been second in several of the previous Bare-Foot Bowls Competitions.
At the conclusion of the evening after all competitors had consumed their sausage sandwiches loving barbecued by Gorrie Kite, Jan & Barry Broadbent, Nick Fry representing the Braidwood Community Bank presented the Bank’s Perpetual Trophy to Jonathan Bunn the skip of the Bunnies team. While making the presentation Nick congratulated all the competitors for competing and the Braidwood Bowling Club for the manner in which they had organised the competition and was so impressed that he pledged that the Community would sponsor another Bare-Foot Bowls Twilight Competition February/March. John Bunn president of the Braidwood Bowling then thanked the Braidwood Community Bank for Sponsoring the Bowling Clubs in many of its activities.
Other activities on the greens was on Wednesday the Lady Bowles entertained ninety lady bowlers in was a great day of bowling and socialising and there were many comments about how good the greens are as they are maintained by a very dedicated group of volunteers.
It is good see our Secretary Gary Collard (Beanze) back home after his back operation and we all hope he has a quick recuperation. On the disappointing news it a shame to see the slowness of the playing of the mixed pairs so please get yourselves together so it can be completed before 2016.
The sheets will be going on the board next week for names for the 2016 Major & Minor Singles. Remember Bowlers are not old they just live longer.
