With clear skies and a mild day forecast, the crowd started arriving early to get the best seats available around the newly acquired arena with over 1200 people through the gates in total.
With a good number of entries, the day kicked off at 9am with a full schedule right up until the final event at 6:30pm. Some of the crowd highlights, were once again with our local events which are purely for people who live within the 2622 postcode.
Jodie Jackson won the Love my Horse Local Barrel Race, Mouse Laurie 1st in the Chris Bowie Plumbing Local Steer ride with Cameron Bradley a close 2nd, and with plenty of aspiring young cowboys, the local poddy riders all received a ribbon and hat kindly donated by Braidwood Ground Spread.
As the rodeo finished, attention turned to the Southern Zone Presentation and dinner that was held in the showground hall. St Bede’s Community Council served up a fabulous 2 course meal to nearly 250 people and “The Corbys” played until late with everyone up dancing and enjoying themselves .
Braidwood Rodeo Club would like to thank first and foremost, all of our very generous sponsors. Without the generosity of these sponsors, our rodeo would not happen. There are too many to name individually in this article, though our major sponsors were: Unity Mining, Braidwood Soil Construction Service, Real Traffic Solutions, J & J Hindmarsh , Braidwood Community Bank and Braidwood Bakery.
We would also like to thank the community for supporting and getting behind our annual event. All of the proceeds of the Braidwood Rodeo go back in to the community and to the improvement of the facilities at the showground.
We hope to see everyone there again next year.
