The fashion designer rumoured to have had an affair with Jay Z has become the centre of speculation following the release of Beyonce's surprise new album, Lemonade.

In the song Sorry, Beyoncé alludes to the rumours of husband Jay Z's infidelity, singing: "He only want me when I'm not there. He better call Becky with the good hair."

The 34-year-old's epic fan-base, the Beyhive, blew up, speculating that Becky was in fact designer Rachel Roy.

Roy appeared to respond to the Beyhive, posting a photo of herself and a friend to Instagram.

"Good hair don't care, but we will take good lighting for selfies, or self truths, always. Live in the light. #nodramaqueens," the 42-year-old captioned the shot, which she later deleted.

"I think we found Becky!" one follower commented, before Roy deleted the shot.

Other commenters became aggressive. "Stupid b--ch don't you know bees sting !!!!!," wrote one, while another posted: "Your hair smells like wet dog Becky!"

The designer's Wikipedia page was also hacked with a line added that identified her as 'Becky'.

Off the back of the online bullying, Roy posted another message to Twitter, saying: "I respect love, marriages, families and strength. What shouldn't be tolerated by anyone, no matter what, is bullying, of any kind."

Roy is the ex-wife of Jay Z's former business partner, music producer Damon Dash. She was widely rumoured to be the cause of the infamous elevator attack between Jay Z and his sister-in-law, Solange, after the Met Awards in 2014.

Solange was seen confronting Roy, a former friend, earlier in the same evening before attacking Jay Z in the lift, kicking and taking swings at him.

After the incident, the pair released a joint statement saying:

"As a result of the public release of the elevator security footage, there has been a great deal of speculation about what triggered the unfortunate incident. But the most important thing is that our family has worked through it.

"Jay and Solange each assume their share of responsibility for what has occurred. They both acknowledge their role in this private matter that has played out in the public. They both have apologised to each other and we have moved forward as a united family."

It appears that Beyonce and Jay Z, who have a four-year-old daughter, Ivy Blue, have also worked through the alleged affair. Other songs on her album talk about reconciliation and forgiveness.
