Palerang United men took on Belsouth at home in what was an entertaining game. Belsouth passed the ball around well in the first 20 minutes controlling play and creating some good chances on goal. Palerang United occasionally took control of the game as Ben Pritchard and Keith Acheson started to make an impression on the game from central midfield. Troy Clark and Jai Gulia were solid at the centre of the backs as Tim Corcoran and Josh Collier completed the competent backline. Belsouth suffered a couple of injuries and were down to a bare 11 players which gave Palerang united an advantage as the game wore on. Mitch Moon managed to get the scoring under way with a neat finish from a pass from midfield. Belsouth fought hard and managed to get a penalty awarded just before halftime when a challenge between a Belsouth forward and Palerang Uniteds keeper was deemed to be a foul and yellow card against Andrew Crisp. The game was halted as Belsouths forward was stretchered off the field and eventually the game restarted with the penalty kick. Andrew Crisp anticipated the shot well and saved the shot with his outstretched foot and the Palerang defence managed to clear the ball to keep the lead into the halftime break. The second half saw a dominating display of football as Palerang United took a strangle hold on the game. Young Tristan Neate was rewarded with his first goal of the season with an excellent strike on goal and Troy Clark and Jai Gulia added to the scoresheet as a depleted Belsouth ran out of steam. The final score was a 4-0 victory to Palerang United and it is pleasing to see the squad starting to put together some good results. A much more youthful team is showing some good promise and with more games under their belts at this level I am sure some more good results are around the corner. Next round will see the top team from Gundaroo come to Braidwood to take on Palerang United with kick off at 1pm. So come on down and support the team!
