A three-year-old boy who died in hospital after being found unconscious in a neighbour's pond in Sydney's northern beaches has been remembered as a "sweet" and "friendly" child who loved playing with his toy truck.

The toddler, Bob Watts jnr, had been riding his bike at his family's home on Chiltern Road in Ingleside when he wandered onto the adjoining property about 3pm on Monday.
Bob's family realised he was gone and started searching for him, before his father and a member of the public found him floating in the large pond about 10 minutes after he disappeared. His bike was also found by the side of the pond.
He was taken to Sydney Children's Hospital in Randwick in a critical condition, but died later that night, a NSW Police spokesman said. His parents and grandparents were understood to be by his side.
A neighbour, Joe Gigliotti, paid tribute to the "gorgeous" little boy, saying "[we're] going to miss you".
"He was such a sweet [boy] and so friendly, he was talking to me about 10 minutes before the accident and he had to show me his toy truck with a trailer and a car on top. I feel so sad for his loss," Mr Gigliotti said.
He said his heart went out to the boy's parents, Janet and Robert Watts.
Police from the Northern Beaches Local Area Command are investigating the boy's death and will prepare a report for the Coroner.
