It’s been over 10 years without a local table tennis competition or social games, so you will be delighted to know that table tennis is making a comeback at the Braidwood Servicemen’s Club.

The BATT’s (Braidwood Active Table Tennis) group will commence in 2 sessions, starting in May. The first session will begin on Monday the 16th between 2pm to 5pm and thereafter each Monday at that time.
The second session will take place every Tuesday evening between 7pm and 9.30pm commencing on the 17th of May.
At this stage, it is primarily a social event, however, depending on the enthusiasm and amount of players, the committee will look at regular competitions in the future.
Manager of the Servicemen’s Club, Michelle Griggs, said she is delighted and excited to bring table tennis back to Braidwood. “Table tennis used to be played many years ago and was very popular in Braidwood. There were even matches organised between Braidwood and Araluen. It should be terrific, it’s not only a great game, both socially and on a competitive basis but it’s also a chance for people to meet and socialise while exercising. It is also another sport or activity that the Club can offer its members and guests.”
As the group is in its early stages, they will be looking at 4 to 6 tables, matches played can be singles or doubles. There is no cost to play.
Many of the tables have been donated by Braidwood Central School that we thank them for their generosity. The school will also use the tables on their sport days. If you do have a table in good condition that can be folded away, please let the group know.
To assist the BATT’s group, we would appreciate if anyone is interested in playing to let them know.
