Palerang United Men took on ladder leaders Gundaroo at home and Palerang united would have a hard time keeping the goal hungry Gundaroo team from scoring goals going on previous results in the competition. The strategy was simple, stack the defence and keep it tight to frustrate their attack. The plan was working well for the first 20 minutes with a few chances on goal but nothing to threatening but it was clear that Gundaroo were a quality team. Palerangs defence was starting to get stretched as the tempo of the game was raised by the Gundaroo midfield and unfortunately the first goal was conceded. Palerang United needed to markup tighter but the Gundaroo forwards were creating plenty of space with some excellent runs in behind the Palerang defence and before they knew it the score was two nil. The game started to even out towards the end of the first half and a few half chances on goal saw Palerang United almost get a goal back. Halftime came and went and as hard as Palerang united tried Gundaroo created plenty of chances early in the half. At the 60th minute mark Gundaroo scored again to make it 3-0 but to the credit of our boys Jai Gulia managed to score a great goal with assists from Ben Pritchard and Angus Bunn. Gundaroo nearly let in another goal not long after that but they snapped into gear to finish the game with 2 more goals. Final score was 5-1 and Gundaroo were the superior team but some solid performances from Tristan Neate, Troy Clark, Ian Rayner, Mitch Moon and Keith Acheson certainly earned the respect of the opposing team. Next round is at home again against the high flying Gungahlin United team and Palerang United will need to bring their A game to be competitive. Good Luck fellas!

Palerang United Div 3 Win In Style
Palerang United Women’s div 3 team played in Mawson against Weston Molonglo and after a slow start dominated by the Weston ladies found themselves behind in the game with a neat team goal. Palerang United were snapped into action and an arm wrestle in midfield was played out for the next 15 minutes but Palerang United were gaining the ascendency. Matilda Corby scored a neat goal to open the scoring for Palerang United and take the game to the break at 1-1. The ladies were confident that if they played with more speed and determination then they would be able to score more goals. The second half started with a steal from the kickoff by Emily Malone and as she weaved her way from the centre circle towards the goal she let rip with a firm shot on goal that narrowly missed above the crossbar. Weston tried hard but the dominance of Palerang United’s play saw them concede another 4 goals with Emily Malone and Tamika Murphy both scoring 2 goals each. An Awesome display from an improving team with some standout performances from Jaye Coble Courtney Doyle and Maccie Whittick in goals for Palerang United. Next week the girls take on Belnorth in Hawker so good luck Ladies.
Palerang United Div 4 Tough Loss
Palerang United Women’s div 4 team took on a Belwest team that was a lot younger and more physical. This team has suffered some significant injuries however the ladies tried hard all game but were overpowered in general play with the brutish attacking attitude of Belwest. A tough first half saw Palerang United concede 4 goals but our ladies never gave up and frustrated the Belwest team who were quick to have a whinge over the slightest mistake from the ref. The second half was a lot better as Palerang United started to penetrate the Belwest defence with some determined runs by Niki Sharp and Jemma Dale. Kirsty Mendham, Neridah McMinn and Floss Sturgiss all played with commitment but Birthday girl Georgia Garcia thwarted plenty of Belwest attacking raids on our goal. The final score was 9-0 but the effort from our ladies was exceptional and as more games are played with this team the better they will get. So heads up ladies and good luck next week. Next week the Ladies take on Queanbeyan City at Hawker!
