The inaugural Truffle Time event at Braidwood Central School in 2015 was a huge success. Once again the school will become Truffle Central for a midwinter weekend of 25/26 June.

Saturday 10am - 3pm & Sunday from 11am
With an expanded program this year, the Central School Gymnasium is the venue for Saturday’s truffled food expo and farmers market featuring local produce kicking off from 8am. Braidwood Farmers Market, Milton Mushrooms, Garlicious Grown Black Garlic, Tarago Truffles and Wynlen House will be there.
A ‘guess the weight of the truffle’ competition will be running during the event
Executive Chef Christian Hauberg will work with students to produce a range of truffle delicacies available for purchase for breakfast, brunch and lunch on Saturday.
There will be truffled scrambled egg and soups, sweet treats and coffee available.
On Saturday there will be lectures on how fungi make the world work.
At 11am Professor Jim Trappe & mycologist Todd Elliott will discuss how truffles and small animals have shaped Australian history.
At 1pm Associate Professor Karl Vernes, Ecosystem Management, University of New England will speak on the topic of "How do native mammals find truffles, and what do they do with them?”
At 2pm Professor Jim Trappe will speak about truffles and indigenous people of the world.
Last year it was standing room only at these events. This year they are being held in the school hall.
Lend an ear to the local radio on Thursday June 23, for interviews with these scientists.
Sunday Cooking Sessions: with Sean McConnell (Monster, Canberra) at 11am, and
Sam Miller (Silvereye Restaurant, Chippendale) at 1pm.
There is a limit of 20 places for these Sunday cooking workshops, so booking early (ph 02 4842 2249 $40 pp.)
Saturday - local restaurants and cafes will be participating in the event with truffle meals.
Sunday - there will be two field trips to look at native truffles. 25 places each in these field trips leaving BCS at 10am and 1pm. ($40pp)
Truffled foods will be available from the Albion Cafe and Dojo bread, and other local food retailers
Once again, the whole weekend would not be possible without the generous donation of thousands of dollars worth of Black Truffles, Tuber melanosporum, grown by the Marshall family at Terra Preta Truffle. Terra Preta Truffles export to Europe, Asia and the US and are the hosts of the Myco dignitaries visiting our town for this great event.
All the proceeds from the event will go to Braidwood Central School.
