After winning two silver medals at the Sydney Royal last year, Garlicious Grown has now won gold in the Pantry Goods Section at the Australian Food Awards in Melbourne. 

Commencing in 2016, the Australian Food Awards celebrates excellence and recognises the best producers of fine food in Australia.

Jenny and Cathy say “We love our black garlic cloves squished under poached eggs or spread with butter on a great steak - well so did the judges at this week's Australian Food Awards in Melbourne. The AFA, conducted by The Royal Agricultural Society of Victoria (RASV) builds on the success of RASV’s Royal Melbourne Fine Food Awards (RMFFA) and is Australia’s leading national premium food awards program.”

The product is a caramelized preparation of various garlic varieties using controlled temperature and humidity to produce tarry black cloves with umami flavours of sweet molasses. There are no additives, extra ingredients or preservatives, just pure garlic.

The pair says “The awards offer us the opportunity to benchmark against set criteria; receive invaluable independent feedback from industry experts; and be rewarded for excellence. We were thrilled to score 95.5 from 100 points and a gold medal in Pantry Goods (preserved vegetables).”

Medal-winning producers will be eligible to win major awards presented at the Australian Food Awards Gala Presentation Dinner in September, including new trophies for overall Category Champions, Champion Organic Produce/Product, overall Small, Medium and Large Champion Producer and the prestigious Champion Australian Produce/Product award.

The garlic is now available at an increasing number of fine food deli’s throughout NSW.
