Nine-times Great Race winner Brock died instantly on September 8, 2006, in a crash during the second stage of the Targa West Rally in Western Australia.
In a move to honour the accomplishments of Brock, that year saw the prize for the victors of the Bathurst 1000 named the Peter Brock Trophy.
This year marks the 10th anniversary of Brock’s death.
Come this weekend, Johnson will have two cars racing under the DJR Team Penske banner, both battling for the right to lift the trophy bearing his rival’s name.
“We had some fantastic battles over the years, both at Bathurst and every other race track in the country,” Johnson said of Brock.
“Bathurst will always be special though, to be able to go there and have a day-long battle between the two of us was always good fun.”
