The election of officers resulted in John Stahel and Annette Briggs remaining as vice president and secretary. (Peter Smith was returned as president – Editor.)

Paul Briggs took on the role of treasurer.

The general committee is: Olive Royds, Robyn Smith, Richard Green, Leigh Fletcher and Bente Jensen.

The outgoing committee was thanked, with particular tribute to Ros Maddrell for her valuable contribution as researcher and family historian, and Neil White as past treasurer.

With the support of the new committee, the many plans and exciting events scheduled for the coming year will be well managed and brought to fruition.

At the meeting’s conclusion, president Peter Smith gave a talk titled ‘Bushranger’s guns’.

Mr Smith demonstrated how to load a muzzle-loading shot gun.

He also showed the actual revolver taken from the outlaw Pat Connell after Connell was shot by police.

A Tranter revolver used by a party of special police who were pursuing the Clarke gang was also presented.

The highlight of the night was a cheque presentation by Braidwood Community Bank to the Historical Society for $15,000.

The money, gratefully received, will assist in funding the 150th anniversary re-enactment of the capture of the Clarkes planned for 2017.

The re-enactment is scheduled for April 29 at the Braidwood Showground.
