In 1991 a group of dedicated women from the Braidwood District, interested in supporting the vital work of the Smith Family, formed the Braidwood Evening VIEW (Voice, Interests and Education of Women) Club. Over the past 25 years, the Club has raised thousands of dollars through monthly dinner meetings and fundraising activities to contribute to improving the educational outcome of disadvantaged Australian children. Improving educational opportunities has been proven to help break the cycle of poverty.

On Thursday October 6, members and guests met at the Braidwood Services Club to celebrate their 25th birthday dinner. Glamour and hats were the theme of the evening, with Treasurer Lyn Martin displaying her mother’s extensive hat collection from the 1960s. Everyone’s knowledge was tested with a fun session of ‘Hat Trivia’. Sandra South kindly donated a beautifully decorated cake, made by her daughter Alison Stutchbury. The cake was cut by Marilyn McGrath, who is the longest serving member and Area Zone Councillor Marilynne Weston, from Cooma.
Braidwood Evening VIEW Club continues to provide women of all ages with the opportunity to develop friendships, increase their knowledge and skills while supporting the nation’s greatest asset, children.
