The Tattersalls Hotel, 76 Auburn Street, phone 4823 5134, is partying from 8.30pm with acoustic duo the ‘Rich Pitcher’.
The Goulburn Workers Club, McKell Place, phone 4821 3355, will have a DJ from 9pm, trading until 3am, and a courtesy shuttle bus.
Live in the Club Lounge at the Goulburn Soldiers Club, 15 Market Street, phone 4821 3300, will be the ‘Platinum Duo’.
The Gordon Hotel, 96 Union Street, phone 4821 4188 is asking its punters to come along in ‘fancy dress’ on December 31.
Over at The Astor, 93 Auburn Street, phone 4821 1155, it’s cocktails from 8pm ($8 each, usually $15) and live music.

IN CROOKWELL
People are talking up the schnitzel with creamy garlic prawns at The Criterion Hotel, 72 Goulburn Street, 4832 1031, and that sounds to us a good a way as any to welcome in a brand new year.
The Crookwell Services Club, 160 Goulburn Street, phone 4832 1265, also gets good reviews for its food and friendly service.

FIREWORKS?
No doubt your local is the place to head for a drink, a bite and perhaps a (short-lived) romance at midnight. If you’re staying in, TV writer Karl Quinn has advice on “a long, slow night in Hell”.
But if you’re looking for a fireworks show and are willing to travel, these ideas from around the region could be a go-er.
McVitty Grove, 434 Wombeyan Caves Road, Mittagong, phone 4878 5522, has fireworks at 9pm, and the option for a three-course meal plus fireworks show. Call for ticket prices; it’s a family event.
The Tomakin Sports and Social Club, 71 Sunpatch Parade, Tomakin (south of Batemans Bay), phone 4474 7000, will host live entertainment from 8pm and two fireworks shows (at 9pm and midnight). The club has a courtesy bus, and the event is open to the general public. It’s a family friendly evening.
For something a bit different, see the Illawarra Hawks play reigning National Basketball League champions Perth Wildcats at the Wollongong Entertainment Centre on December 31 from 5.30pm, then head over to the Wollongong foreshore to enjoy amusement rides (open from 10am), food stalls, roaming performers, music and a fireworks display. Limited parking is available, but family friendly.
Canberra is set to ring in 2017 with a line-up of free entertainment including Civic Square’s all-ages concert (7pm-12.30am) and Garema Place (9pm-1am) bringing in the New Year with bass beats and high-energy dancing. Both are alcohol-free and glass-free to encourage a safe and friendly atmosphere. Fireworks overhead!
