History was made in Braidwood on Thursday with the Redbacks and Black Widows training together for the first time.

The teams began with the Beep Test before going their separate ways to begin training. Good numbers are expected for the competition, which kicks off in March.

Once the season starts, Braidwood will be feast on a rugby smorgasbord with some planned home games featuring triple headers with the Daddy Long Legs (Golden Oldies), the Black Widows and the Redbacks all hitting the paddock in the same afternoon.

The men will be training every Tuesday and Thursday at 6.30pm with the women training every Thursday at 6.30pm, both at the Recreation Ground.

Competition begins on Saturday, March 25, with Braidwood hosting a South Coast Monaro pre-season carnival at the Rec Grounds on Saturday, March 11.

The Rugby Club will host a barbecue at the club on Saturday, February 18 for all members of the rugby community. A rugby camp for the men’s team will be held that same weekend, lead by specialists from Canberra supported by the Braidwood coaching team.
