The program sought to provide participants with a really broad range of experiences. “We sent them to a really diverse range of projects,” said Landcare support officer Simone Horn, to provide a good picture of the scope of natural resource management.
The graduation ceremony took place at Martin Royds’ property, Jillamatong, where the team had completed some re-vegetation and weed control works.
The nine graduates – Chloe, Paige, Daniel, Will, Robert, Tyrin, Ashbee, Kelly and Matt – were thanked for their contribution to all the projects they worked on with landcarers across the Upper Shoalhaven.
Participants had been involved with a wide range of projects on private and public land, ranging from seed collection and preparation, to weed control, revegetation work, and pest and biodiversity monitoring. Congratulations go to all of the graduates and to their team supervisor, Jessica Rich, who did a wonderful job throughout the last six months and provided valuable help and enthusiasm to landholders.
We now say a fond farewell to the team as the Australian Government announced the end of the Green Army program at the end of 2016.
We wish all the participants well with whatever they choose to take on next and hope that they can use all the skills and experience they’ve gained in Upper Shoalhaven Landcare in their future careers.
