Country Championships 2017 in Goulburn

From Fashions on the Field to a flutter on the fillies, storm clouds cleared for a gorgeous summer afternoon of trackside entertainment at Goulburn and District Racing Club, encouraging hundreds of spectators to turn out for the Country Championships.

Winners in the fashion stakes included Blake Robertson from Taralga (junior), Matt Sheehy from Goulburn (men’s) and Kody-Leigh Hirst from Canberra (women’s).

On the track, Pumpkin Pie from trainer Danny Williams’ stable came home to take the qualifier for the Country Championships’ final at Randwick in April, followed by Steel Frost.

If either Pumpkin Pie or Steel Frost goes on to win the final, the Goulburn Post will donate $5000 of TAB Corp takings to share between the Goulburn units of the NSW State Emergency Service and Rural Fire Service.
