It began with her daily walks around the district, when she realised how interesting were the cattle in the surrounding paddocks.
So she began to photograph them, sketch them, and paint them. She’s found the experience fascinating, saying that she’s learnt cows have “very individual personalities”.
As she sits and sketches, she’ll often hear a truck pull up. A farmer will lean out and say, “I saw your car at the top of the lane, I thought maybe you’d broken down.” When she says that she’s just drawing their cattle, they’re often initially taken aback, but all agree after a chat that cows are lovely animals.
Ms Webber has amassed such a collection of works, that she has decided to display them at Braidwood Regional Art Gallery.
She’s hoping some of the farmers she met will visit the show, saying they might catch a glimpse of their own animals.
Ms Webber’s exhibition opens on Friday, March 3, 6-8pm at BRAG.
