The 2017 Heritage Award went to Antony Davies and Andrew Gow, for their work restoring the Millpond Farm at Jembaicumbene.
The mill dates from the 1850s, when it was build by entrepreneur Charles Dransfield. Mr Davies and Mr Gow have spent eight years restoring the farm to reflect its original state. The mill houses the Wheatfield Gallery, currently open on weekends with the exhibition ‘Everything Stops for Tea’.
The couple have also put extensive work into restoring the homestead and wetlands on the property.
Paul and Di Bott received a Highly Commended award for New Building Design, for 43 Wallace Street.
Derek and Helen Duffy were presented with certificates of appreciation for their work restoring 130 Wallace Street, now Braidwood Antiques.
The Heritage Awards recognised projects which sympathetically preserved and restored heritage buildings within the Queanbeyan Palerang region. Categories included restoration of a heritage building; new building design, adaption, or heritage garden, and an outstanding promotion or contribution to heritage.
