The road was closed this morning due to heavy smoke and a multi vehicle crash on Burbong Bridge.
The crash has been cleared.
However, motorists are advised to continue to exercise caution in the area as visibility is still being affected by smoke.
The smoke is the result of a hazard reduction burn on the ACT side of the border.
8.45AM: The Kings Highway is closed in both directions between Carwoola and Bungendore.
The closure is due to thick smoke from a hazard reduction burn and a multi vehicle crash.
The multi vehicle crash has occurred on the highway at Carwoola on Burbong Bridge.
Emergency services are on scene working to clear it as quickly as possible.
The hazard reduction burn is on the ACT side of the border.
However, heavy smoke is impacting drivers using the highway and visibility is poor.
Motorists are advised to delay travel in the area as there is no diversion currently available.
