Here in Braidwood there are currently 15 shops, cafes and restaurants – and two pubs in Wallace Street – which are trying to make a living and provide employment to locals.
In addition, there are many other shops and services trying to do the same.
In the first half of 2017, three shops have closed for varying reasons.
Perhaps we should remember the quote: ‘Never bite the hand that feeds you.’
Not all travellers from Canberra and Queanbeyan and surrounds just stop for holidays at Batemans Bay, but travel on to Broulee, Moruya, Tuross and many other resorts.
They all travel through Mogo (50 kilometres per hour) and the town embraces them.
Perhaps we should consider walking to town or parking off the main street to allow visitors to park.
If people cannot stop, they will not shop.
