The diversity of entries this award attracts is a testament to the large array of artists who call this region home
- Georgina Perri
Artists from Queanbeyan-Palerang, Cooma-Monaro or Yass Valley are invited to enter the awards.
“The diversity of entries this award attracts is a testament to the large array of artists who call this region home,” said Georgina Perri, QPRC Cultural Development Officer.
“Printmakers, glass artists, photographers, sculptors, ceramic artists and painters have featured strongly in previous years, with many emerging artists using the opportunity to exhibit their work for the first time.”
Council has invited local businesses to support the awards with cash or in kind prizes.
Council sponsors the main award of $2,000 and the Highly Commended and People’s Choice awards of $500 each. The winner of the Professional Practise award will receive an exhibition package valued at $2000, courtesy of Queanbeyan’s Form Studio and Gallery.
The awards are hung in the Exhibition Space at the Q, in Queanbayan for four weeks, with the opportunity for artists to sell their entries.
