The second half saw more of the same with Palerang putting on a display of confidence in attack and composure in defence. Gary Dunn and Scott Birkett both scored cracking goals to finalise the scoring and see a 5-0 victory.
Thomas Roberts had two free kicks from long range go close to scoring towards the end of the game with the second just tipped over the cross bar.
Under 12s
It was a home game for the Palerang Under 12s against AC Majura from Canberra. That good Braidwood air fired up our team, as they were on fire.
At half time the team was up 4-0 and the trend carried on in the second half romping it in for 10-0 win for us.
All players from our goal keepers all the way up to the front line were outstanding. Fergus Tooth was everywhere, providing support in all areas. Matilda, Laynee, Bonnie, Reggie and Josh held the backline strong and played smart kick outs to the side line when in trouble. This line was indestructable. Hugh Lyons was constantly in the action gaining possession and returning to our mids, Brodie and Hunter. They kept the excellent forward rhythm out to our wings, Angus and Leroy, of outstanding placed goals or chipped it to the centre forwards Isabella and Nelson, who cleverly went all the way to strike the net or to again pass it to the side for the wings to quickly execute it into the point box. Nathan Hindmarsh also showed great improvement.
Majura kept their heads up and powered on demonstrating what it takes to never give up when the chips are down. Well done, Palerang, and let’s hope we can duplicate the excellent effort in our next game.
