The Queanbeyan Indoor Sports Centre will shortly be extended. The project includes three additional multi-purpose sports courts, two squash courts, and an indoor cricket court. The three multi-purpose sports courts will be able to be reconfigured into one large court for representative level futsal or other sports. The extension will take up some of the car park, so Seiffert Oval will be upgraded to allow parking for the sports centre and Taylor Park users.

Shop Local
The 2017 Shop Local campaign in Bungendore and Braidwood will be supported with council funding. This campaign will give even more incentive to shop locally. Local businesses will register to participate in the campaign and shoppers will receive a ticket in the draw by spending a minimum of $20 with any registered business. A prize pool of $10,000 will be offered in each town with four winners each. Prizemoney can only be re-spent in the town, so all investment will be retained within the local area.
Sports Facilities Strategic Plan
The council adopted the Sports Facilities Strategic Plan and its recommendations as we look to improve the provision of sporting facilities in Queanbeyan-Palerang. The plan identifies six strategies, which are to develop integrated sporting clusters or hubs located strategically around the region; to rationalise facilities for optimum land use and return on investment; to provide high level sporting opportunities; to provide a home facility for all QPRC based clubs; to provide accessible and equitably distributed unstructured recreational facilities throughout QPRC; and to achieve economic development through sports.
Farrer Place pencil pines
A plan to replace the pencil pines on Farrer Place is part of continuing work over the past few years to improve town approaches and the Queanbeyan CBD. During the community consultation, the heritage value of these trees was raised, as they had been planted as part of the William Farrer Memorial. The council will retain the trees. Missing trees will be re-planted with the same species, plus ground cover.
