Haddie spoke about the 2017 Centenary of the Russian Revolution, using this topic to discuss the world’s economic system more broadly.
Haddie said she was pleased with her experience in the competition.
“Public speaking has been extremely valuable because it has helped me really examine, and justify, my opinions; and attempt to express them in an engaging way,” she said.
The competition aims to encourage the use of clear and effective spoken English. Each semi-finals speaker gave an eight minute prepared speech and a three minute prepared speech.
