The council aspirant was the youngest to run in Queanbeyan’s last election, an achievement set to be topped by his independent running partner in the upcoming election, Nathaniel Harper.
Mr Hunter, 25, and Mr Harper, 19, want to use their social media skills to promote local business and bring a modern approach to re-fill the shopfronts in the city’s CBD.
The two plan to put forward an open for business program modeled on the Eurobodalla Shire Council’s campaign.
"The way we're looking at it, people are still saying it's about foot traffic and these kinds of things,” Mr Hunter said.
He said this was outdated.
“We're trying to give a big push to local businesses to take their business online and show people what they've got.”
Mr Hunter said his young team is pro-Ellerton Drive extension, and wants to get on with the amalgamation of the Queanbeyan and Palerang councils.
Although he regularly clashes with local Greens party representatives, he said he wasn’t aligned to any political party.
"The Greens have never been a big fan of mine, and I don't think I've been a big fan of theirs to be honest,” Mr Hunter said.
"There has been talk in the past of me being Tim's [council administrator Tim Overall] lapdog and all those sorts of things, and it's just not the case.”
He said his team was focused on doing the best they could for their region.
"If the Greens are willing to go out and have their say, then they might think we're a bit of a threat.
“And that's quite a good thing for us.
"We're here to challenge the old and bring in some new”
