The final match of the regular season was a grinding game and both sides were unable to take the victory.
It was an even match with plenty of opportunities for both teams.
Palerang were strong in defence and shut down plenty of shots on from Narrabundah. During both halves there was even possession, and both sides had shots on. It was a great match to watch.
Narrabundah were the first point scorers, finishing the first half off strongly. They scored with a quality goal, which was too high for our keeper.
Narrabundah walked off happy at half time, while Palerang walked off knowing they had to have a big second half.
It was towards the middle of the second half when Palerang shot back, through Georgia Garcia.
After a dominant 10 minutes with the ball, the chance came. With multiple Palerang players around the goal, Georgia took the shot, which soared over the Narrabundah goalkeeper’s head to score.
With the scores locked at 1-1 Palerang began to dominate, frustrating Narrabundah.
Palerang took a few more shots on before momentum swung Narrabundah’s way. But Palerang’s strong defence and some quality goalkeeping kept Narrabundah stuck with just one goal.
As the game came to an end and both sides were getting more frustrated and tired, meaning the structure loosened and the game flowed freely.
The football remained in the middle of the field however, with neither side backing down.
No shots were made on goal and the final whistle blew for the end of the regular season.
Palerang finished the season top of the ladder with Narrabundah just below in second place.
The results in the other games will determine who Palerang takes on in the semi-final next Sunday at Hawker.
Palerang are hoping to go all the way to finals this season and welcome anybody who’d like to make the trip over to watch them play.
