Now he hopes to earn a spot on council to progress the issues he feels strongly about.

Mr Biscotti is running as an independent candidate on Tim Overall’s ticket.

Many in the region would have got to know Mr Biscotti through his family-run businesses, such as the Bungendore delicatessen and espresso and gelato bars, and he is committed to improving opportunities for local businesses.

“Small business is a critical part of any community and we need to do all we can to promote those we currently have and make it inviting and accessible for new ones,” he said.

Mr Biscotti has always led a very active life, serving eight years as specialist ground soldier in the Royal Australian Air Force. Closer to home he has had a lifelong association with local football.

Playing for both Monaro Panthers and Queanbeyan City FC, he has held many volunteer positions with the Panthers and is the current coach of U15s Women’s Premier team.

Mr Biscotti said the Tim Overall team had a commitment to furthering the local community through many different social aspects, including sport.

“I believe local government is about serving all of our community for the greater good,” he said.

“Tim Overall has actively demonstrated what can be achieved with a true commitment to all aspects of our region, from sport, to the arts, to business.”

Should he be elected Mr Biscotti will work towards implementing the extensive infrastructure projects that the Tim Overall team have highlighted as key election platforms.
