Greetings from the Upper Shoalhaven Landcare Council. We are part of a highly successful volunteer-based movement that facilitates action to care for our local environment. USLC is an umbrella organisation that supports and represents 17 other Landcare groups across our region. We receive a small amount of government funding to help with coordination of our activities and we work hard to attract grants for larger projects. The region includes Bungonia in the north, stretching from Bungendore to the Budawangs in the centre, and south to Snowball.

Since forming in 1995 we have helped to transform our local landscape. We are devoted to supporting landholders in the management and protection of natural resources; creating productive and sustainable farms; conserving our environment; and building cohesive and resilient communities. We enable local farmers, land managers, conservationists and others in the community to work together on local issues. Our activities include anything from interactive field days about soils, pastures, weeds and erosion, through to large-scale biodiversity projects (involving education, revegetation, restoration, research, and monitoring), plus an immense variety of things in-between.
The USLC is overseen by a volunteer executive committee and currently has 2 part-time staff who work from the Local Land Services Office in Braidwood. If you’d like to know more about Landcare, or to get in touch with other landcarers in your local area, please contact us at e: upper.shoalhaven@gmail.com or via uppershoalhavenlandcare.com.au
We’ll be sharing more about our activities with you via our monthly Landcare Perspective column!
