Councils are required to develop a Community Strategic Plan to encapsulate the community’s long term vision for their region.
The strategic plan encapsulates vision, under five strategic pillars: community, choice, character, connection and capability.
If council pass the recommended motion, the draft Strategic Plan 2018-2028 will be placed on exhibition for community comment.
This plan informs council’s four year delivery program, which informs its annual operational plan.
For Braidwood, the plan identifies a focus on parks and green spaces, a rejuvenation of the village centre, access to services and facilities, traffic management, the public pool and road maintaince.
Road maintenance is top of the list for Queanbeyan, followed by a development of a traffic bypass, public transport, parks and green spaces, the provision of a cinema, the rejuvenation of the CBD, provision of sporting facilities and city planning.
Other items on the agenda include:
- A civic reception to recognise the efforts of the local RFS brigades in assisting and supporting the community has been proposed by Councillor Tim Overall, estimated to cost $2,000 from the governance budget.
- The QPRC Media and social Media Policies, after a review of the policies of the former councils
- Kenrick Winchester has submitted a motion that council investigate safety concerns associated with the signalised pedestrian crossing on Yass Road, and report to council on ways to reduce risk.
- QPRC Investment Report
