As people head off down to the coast for their regular holidays and weekend getaways, it is common to notice more police on the road and double demerits will come into effect.

Despite these measures however, it seems that our death toll on NSW roads has been steadily increasing in recent years. 

Last year there were 29 fatalities during December in NSW, which was the highest December total since 2011. During the 12 months ending December 2016 there were 384 fatalities in NSW, the highest calendar year total since 2010 (NSW Road Fatalities Report – Transport for NSW). 

Whilst none of us like to think about this happening to us, it is possible, and it is important to be prepared and have your affairs in order just in case.

I’m sure many of you have it listed on your “to do” list, to update your wills and powers of attorney.

It is the task that everyone puts off because nobody likes to think about death happening to them any time soon.

Unfortunately, as the statistics show, it can happen to anyone at any time. 

I recommend that you all review your wills prior to Christmas. Put this at the top of your “to do” list and get it done.
